BrainFood is built so your meal data stays yours. The short version: nothing leaves your phone.
What we collect
Nothing. BrainFood does not collect any data from you.
What stays on your device
The meals you photograph, the check-ins you log (rating, factor toggles, notes), the timestamps, and the photos themselves all live in your iPhone's app storage. They are included in your iCloud device backup if you have one enabled, exactly the same way your other app data is. We do not see any of it.
What we don't have
- No accounts. No sign-in. No email collection.
- No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reporting SDKs.
- No advertising. No advertising identifiers.
- No third-party libraries that phone home.
- No server. BrainFood has no backend at all in its current version.
Permissions BrainFood asks for
Camera — to photograph meals when you tap "Take photo." Used only when you initiate the action.
Photo library — to attach an existing meal photo from your library and read its EXIF timestamp.
Notifications — to send the thirty-minute check-in reminder for each meal you log.
All three are optional and revocable in iOS Settings.
If this ever changes
If BrainFood ever adds optional cloud sync, AI analysis, or any other feature that involves data leaving your device, that change will be explicit, opt-in, and described here before it ships.
